La Pointe Center for the Arts Winter Update

Wine Tasting at The Pub

Save the date for this year’s annual La Pointe Center FUNdraiser and Wine Tasting. Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 2:30 – 5 PM. The proceeds from this event have allowed us to provide grants for creative community projects for over 23 years. Taste fabulous wines, accompanied by fruits and artisan cheeses, and bid on hundreds of silent auction items, including many exclusive gifts for the Madeline Island aficionado. This is also a chance to meet the La Pointe Center grant recipients and see some of their work.

To contribute an item to the Silent Auction, or to volunteer to help, email lapointecenter@gmail.com for more information.

2017 Granting Cycle Spring Deadline

In 2016, we granted $8250 to individuals and other non-profit organizations to complete art projects that bring beauty to our community. How about that Madeline Island Historic Preservation Association (MIHPA) mural on the Rice Street side of the Angus Cheese house? Holly Marie Tourdot painted it via a grant to MIHPA!

The next granting deadline is May 31, 2017. Applications and instructions are available here or by emailing lapointecenter@gmail.com.

Music on Madeline

Pat Donohue

2017 promises to be an exciting season for our free Music Affiliate “Picnic Concerts.” The series kicks off with Pat Donohue, back by popular demand on July 1st on the StageMobile at the Harry Nelson Recreational Center from 5:30 – 7:30. Bring your family and houseguests and fire up a grill to have a picnic dinner, or get dinner to go from one of the Island’s great restaurants. Our mission is to present local and regional music acts to Islanders and visitors in a family friendly setting while helping to support the local economy. Watch for details on our upcoming concert series throughout the summer at the Rec Center. We are in the process of confirming the acts.

Sponsors Needed!  Help us to continue offering these free concerts to the public. To become a sponsor of a concert, contact LeeAnn Schaub at leeannmerrillschaub@gmail.com or donate to the program here.
