Indigenous Art Show opens today at LPC Gallery

Indigenous Art Show opens today, featuring the works of Frank Montano, Carol DeMain, Dennis and Cleo White, Roberta DeCora, Martin Curry, Beth Paap, and other local Native artists. The feature is the dugout canoe, on display outside the Gallery.

“This project is supported in part with assistance from the La Pointe Center for the Arts, which receives support from local donations and the Wisconsin Arts Board, the non-profit organizations Honor The Earth, Aking and Native American Educational Technologies., (NAET) with assistance from local islanders, appreciation to the Madeline Island Ferry Company, Captain Mac’s Fish Tacos, Marina, the Bad River Ojibwe Band, Tom’s Burned Down Café, lots of coffee from the Mission Hill Coffee Shop and many small donations, and assistance provided by local businesses, and the 200+ people who have put their hands on the cutting, transportation, setting up, carving, finishing and chatting over the specifics of how to do something, and why.”

  1. I am so glad you are featuring these talented artists. Please post photos of the whole exhibit before it is dismantled for those of us who can’t come to the Island at this time. Wish I could be there!
