Her commitment to the community is to facilitate discussions on the rich, culturally significant history of Madeline Island’s flora and fungi, hold open studio time, lead field trips to explore the flora and fungi of Madeline Island, hold educational demonstrations with participation options and facilitate discussion events on the history of botanical arts. Additionally, a final exhibit of work in progress and completed work will be scheduled.

La Patka will be on the island for a three-week period beginning October 1st, 2024. Dates and times of the community events will be communicated later this summer.

The purpose of the Artist in Residence Program is to provide the space and opportunity on Madeline Island for an individual to focus on creative ideas, create a body of work, or develop a new project or research. Scheduled interaction with the community during the residency is an important aspect of the program.
