The Artist in Residence program is complete for 2023.
The La Pointe Center for the Arts was delighted to host author Darci Schummer as the Artist-in-Residence for 2023. She enjoyed staying on Madeline Island from May 1-22. Primarily a fiction writer, she is the author of the story collection Six Months in the Midwest, co-author of the poetry/prose collaboration Hinge, and author of the forthcoming novel The Ballad of Two Sisters. She teaches writing at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, and worked on finishing a novel in progress during her residency. She hosted two successful writing workshops for area community members while on Madeline Island. Her residency finished with a “Meet the Writer” reception, during which she read from her novel.
