Artist-in-Residence Program 2023

The La Pointe Center for the Arts was delighted to host author Darci Schummer as the Artist-in-Residence for 2023.  She enjoyed staying on Madeline Island from May 1-22. Primarily a fiction writer, she is the author of the story collection Six Months in the Midwest, co-author of the poetry/prose collaboration Hinge, and author of the forthcoming novel The Ballad of Two Sisters. She teaches writing at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, and worked on finishing a novel in progress during her residency. She hosted two successful writing workshops for area community members while on Madeline Island. Her residency finished with a “Meet the Writer” reception, during which she read from her novel. of passionate people who believe in the arts, who
believe in literature, and who see creative
expression as both important and necessary.”
