The Artist in Residence Program is back in 2024! Last spring the La Pointe Center for the Arts offered its first residence program.  Writer, Darci Schummer, spent three weeks in May, on Madeline Island, finishing her novel. While here, Darci hosted two successful writing workshops for the community.  She finished her residency with a “Meet the Writer” reception in which she read from her novel. Darci’s experience was an enjoyable success, commenting:

LPC Artist in Residence - Artist Accommodations

Artist accommodations for this program.

The purpose of the Artist in Residence Program is to provide the space and opportunity on Madeline Island for artists to focus on their ideas, create a body of work, develop a new project or research, and to expand their creativity. Interaction with the community is an important aspect of the program. Artists over 21 years of age may apply. We encourage artists with experience who are interested in dedicated time to develop ideas and creative work.

The residency is for a 3-week period and weekly stipend. The artist will be provided with lodging, studio space and a weekly stipend.  The artist is responsible for providing all supplies, food, and travel expenses.
