LPC Stage Mobile

La Pointe Center, Inc. has been sponsoring a FREE Summer Concert Series for the past several years at the Harry Nelson Rec Center in downtown La Pointe. Anyone can come and enjoy top quality music, grab a brat and a beer, and take advantage of Madeline Island’s best season: summer!

Local favorite Molly O, 2018

Through those years, many national, regional and local musicians have performed. Grammy award-winner Pat Donohue, Bruce and Jasmine Bowers, Molly and the Danger Band, the Clearwater Hot Club, and local favorite Ric Gilman are among the many talented artists who have entertain the community through our Performing Arts Program.

Our 2019 Summer Stage Mobile Concert Series offers another great line-up, including back by popular demand Molly O on 7/11; over to Joni’s Beach for another reggae fest with Socaholix on Saturday, 7/20; the rousing pirate music of Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers on 7/25; and Radio Joe & the Jazzbos, led by former Wolverines guitarist Joe Demko on August 8.

All the shows take place on our portable Stage Mobile. We acquired this wonderful moveable venue several years ago. Last year was our most successful series ever, and we are looking forward again to a terrific 2019 season of free community concerts.

Loretta Nelson, Kid’s Lip Sync Contest, 2018

Other community organizations also rely on the Stage Mobile: the Annual Spring Golf Outing, the Library Talent show, Big Top Chautauqua Apple Fest Concerts in Bayfield, and the Kid’s Lip Sync Contest are a few of the other community events that take place on the Stage Mobile. It is also available for rent to private parties and non-profit organizations for a very affordable fee.

The Stage Mobile is, however, in need of repairs. The hydraulics and frame of stage need rebuilding, and interior accommodations for housing the sound system need to be updated.

Charlie and the brats

We are looking to raise $10,000 to make sure our 2019 Concert Series will have adequate facilities to stage these great shows, and our community has access to this wonderful resource.

Can you help us continue to provide free entertainment throughout the summer and make this resource available for the community? Please consider making a donation to the cause. It would mean so much not just to the La Pointe Center, but the entire community who relied on us to provide free entertainment throughout the summer.
