Positivity Children’s Theatre 30th Season Reflection

March 11, 2025

Positivity Children’s Theatre concluded its 30th season (minus 2 pandemic years) on Sunday August 11th at the LaPointe Center for the Arts Mobile Stage. The 2024 production was entitled “A Place We Call Home” written by Howard Dallin. Howard has written many plays for us over the years and this one was a retrospective history of Madeline Island beginning with the Ojibwe Migration all the way up to present day tourism. History and humor. Howard stayed as accurate to our recent history as possible. With his own added flair.

We had 15 children ranging in age from 8 – 14. There were 5 new kids this year! And what a talented group! They were able to join us with the enormous help of the Michael and Grutzner Funds from the Apostle Island Area Community Fund. which covered the cost of their registrations. Such an incredible gift to our program.

Sheri Milburn was our oh so talented, Music Director and Lara Andary joined us again as our gifted choreographer. John Erste painted the beautiful mural on the back of the stage. It will be the backdrop for the upcoming 2025 concert series!

And of course, Ludlow North, is our most talented actor and “essential” guy. Ludlow has been with PCT for many years, and we are so grateful. Chloe Larson (Dolly and Phil Schneeberger’s granddaughter) helped during the 1st week of rehearsals. And there were many helpful parents and grandparents, friends, and community members, throughout the run, passing out programs and encouraging donations! Special shout out to Chelsa Nelson for helping backstage and then filming during the Sunday performance. We were also fortunate to have Michael “Laughing Fox” Charette to open Sunday’s performance with his traditional flute playing and creation stories. How fortunate we are to have such amazing talent in our own backyard!

In 30 years of summer Children’s theater, I have seen hundreds of kids “walking the boards” as we say in theater. In 2024 I had the 2nd generation of one of our original actors.

Throughout the years, LaPointe Center for the Arts has been a constant supporter. We would not exist without you. Period. Your unwavering generosity and support are the backbone of Positivity Children’s Theatre. Thank you so very much.
