Winters are long in the north woods, but here on Madeline Island, we find ways to pass the time.
This winter, the La Pointe Center has launched a series of “Winter Workshops” which will feature demonstrations, performances, and informal gatherings led primarily by local and regional artists. These workshops are in response to the growing interest in community gathering and creative expression during these cold and dark months.
On Saturday, March 7th, LPC paired up with local artist Lance Wurst for our first workshop offering: Watercolor Paint and Sip. 20 participants gathered and were given the materials and techniques to walk away with two finished watercolor creations. This included a picturesque landscape scene with a matte frame, as well as a beautiful watercolor bookmark.
All skill levels, including beginners were welcome to participate. It was an enjoyable evening of community gathering, painting, and, of course, sipping!
LPC looks forward to offering more workshops in the coming months. Class offerings may include needle felting, collage workshops, painting, ceramics, or open mic-nights. Stay tuned by following our Facebook page or website to learn about the offerings that suit you!
